Before joining Engel & Völkers Chicago North Shore in April, 2022, I held senior editorial posts at a number of A-list IT publications, including Internet Week, Web Week and Computerworld. Interests
- Technology continues to be a passion of mine. But unlike most of my tech journalist pals, I don't just like reading and writing about, say, open source operating systems or home servers. I like getting my hands dirty by fussing with these platforms. Indeed, my sons used to accuse me of breaking computers, printers and operating systems just to fix them. They weren't wrong. As I've explained over the years, "Some people like crossword puzzles, I like this."
- Travel, especially if it involves scuba diving with Erin (it’s how we met)
- Debating the big questions: politics; religion; the future of humanity
- Movies, with a bias for scifi
- Watching our five kids grow up
- Cooking and entertaining at home
Why real estate
I briefly thought about being an architect (before I saw the all math requirements), and so it is still a pleasure to tour a variety of homes. Plus, there's always something interesting or clever about how people arrange their space, especially in the kitchen. And working alongside Erin is a constant joy because she's so naturally talented at this high-touch, complex, detail-oriented profession. We make a very good team. |
