Takeaways From Our Buying vs. Renting Event |
Last month, Booker Group hosted a free seminar, Buying Vs. Renting Paint, Sip and Nosh. Here were some of the key takeaways from the event: |

Rental prices continue to increase. In Evanston, for instance, advertised rents increased 6% over the past year, according to a Zillow.com report. Interestingly, price increases for studio and one bedroom apartments were relatively small, while increases for two and three bedroom apartments were larger.

"For instance, "I'd never approach [a well-known giant] about an VA loan," said an experience mortgage lender at the event, noting that not all banks are the same.

- Start checking/fixing your credit up to 6 months before you start house-hunting. Some credit repair takes a minimum of 60 days.
